The 2024 election cycle was a close and highly contentious one, with high voter participation and tight race margins that reflect Americans’ passion for their communities and country. We’re encouraged by the overall level of engagement in this election, and the voting and ballot counting went well.
As the votes are counted and winners are determined, we will keep you posted on the results, including county-by-county updates when new tabulations are reported. Results become official after the locality’s Electoral Board certifies them.
While partisanship is a big factor in determining who wins, so are the issues that voters prioritize and how each candidate plans to govern. For example, we see that voters who support Trump tend to be more concerned about national security and jobs than those supporting Harris. We’re also seeing that the economy is a big issue, with more than half of all voters saying that their economic condition is good or excellent. This is a significant driver for stocks, and we’ll continue to track how different outcomes may impact the economy in our equity and bond market forecasts.
