New Dynamics of Global Conflict in the Digital Era In the digital era, global conflict is increasingly complex with many factors influencing the dynamics of international conflict. Social media and online platforms play a significant role in influencing public opinion and disseminating information. In this context, fake news (hoaxes) are a weapon that is often used to muddy the situation and manipulate facts, adding to the difficulties in resolving conflicts. Cyber warfare is also a major concern. Countries are now leveraging technology to carry out cyberattacks, targeting vital infrastructure. A striking example is the cyber attack on energy facilities in Ukraine which sparked tensions between major powers. In interactions between countries, these attacks are not only physically detrimental, but also create uncertainty and fear among society. Conflict dynamics are also influenced by digital activism. The entire world has witnessed movements like Black Lives Matter gaining momentum through digital platforms. This activism has the potential to change conflict patterns, because individuals and groups can build solidarity quickly and widely. Using hashtags and online campaigns, they are able to encourage action, stimulate international support, and press for policy change at the highest levels of government. When examined from a geopolitical perspective, the digital era creates a new arena of competition between global powers. Countries with more advanced information technology capabilities can dominate international information and communication channels. This requires other countries to improve their digital capabilities so as not to lag behind the competition. For example, tensions between the United States and China can be viewed from the perspective of technological competition. Tapping, data theft and the influence of social media are an important part of this conflict. Every country is trying to not only protect the information of billions of their citizens, but also to gain a strategic advantage. The new dynamics of global conflict are also visible in the influence of large technology companies. Giants like Google, Facebook, and Twitter have the power to influence narratives and organize public debate. They have a big responsibility to manage the information circulating on their platforms, but often face pressure from various parties. Apart from that, legality and law enforcement in the digital realm are still far from optimal. Many countries are trying to implement regulations related to privacy and data protection, but implementation in the field often encounters various obstacles. This leaves room for violations and attacks in cyberspace. All these factors suggest that global conflict in the digital age involves more than just military clashes; this includes technological, social and legal aspects. Parties involved in a conflict must consider the wider consequences of their actions, both in the domestic and international context. As technology continues to develop, it is important for countries to respond to global dynamics in an innovative and adaptive way. Digital diplomacy, in which countries and organizations seek to utilize technology for dialogue and conflict resolution, could be one solution to create more stable international relations, even though they are full of challenges.
